Florida International University is accredited by the The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). SACS is the recognized regional accrediting body in the eleven U.S. Southern states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia) and in Latin America for those institutions of higher education that award associate, baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral degrees. The Commission on Colleges is the representative body of the College Delegate Assembly and is charged with carrying out the accreditation process.
The College of Education is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
The College’s Initial Teacher Preparation Programs are approved by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE).
The Counselor Education Program is nationally accredited by the Council for Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP).
The Counselor Education Program, Rehabilitation Track is accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE).
