Support Our Tradition of Excellence
The College of Education 's tradition of high quality and educational excellence rests on exceptional students, effective and accomplished graduates, outstanding faculty, innovative academic programs and your generous support. Support from alumni, parents and friends is vital to our ongoing success, quality of service and distinguished leadership.

Your contributions help the College to offer scholarships, enhance academic programs, attract the finest faculty members, recruit the best and brightest students and advance critical research initiatives. Your gift maximizes opportunities to make a profound and lasting contribution to our students, our faculty and our community.

Each and every gift -- regardless of size -- is important to our campus and our future. Please join your fellow alumni, parents and friends in supporting FIU's future and make a difference in the lives of more than 30,000 students each year. Ensure the College of Education 's leadership position in educational excellence.making a difference.

Dean's Circle
Alumni and Friends are offered the opportunity to support the College's goals and continued progress through the Dean's Circle multi-year giving society. Dean Circle members are invited to participate in special College and University activities including exclusive lectures with top faculty/researchers as well as cultural and athletic events and receive other benefits. Members are recognized at the Annual Dean's Circle luncheon and in the College's Annual Report. Three-year giving levels are outlined below:

  • Gold: $1,500/yr for three years
  • Silver: $1,000/yr for three years
  • Bronze: $500/yr for three years

Naming Opportunities
The College's new Sanford and Dolores Ziff and Family Education Building offers a unique opportunity to support the future of education while also providing a means to honor or memorialize a loved one by naming a classroom or teaching laboratory. A gift of $50,000 or more establishes a named scholarship in perpetuity. In addition, endowment gifts from one or more donors totaling $100,000 can qualify for state matching gifts at a rate of 50% or more.

Below are just a few examples of named gift opportunities at widely varied giving levels:

  • Program Endowments: from $25,000
  • Scholarships: from $50,000
  • Teaching Laboratories: $35,000 - $75,000
  • Classrooms: $50,000 - $250,000
  • Endowed Professorships/Fellowships/Named Chairs: $250,000 - $3,000,000

Leaving a Legacy
Your generosity is an essential ingredient to our progress, both now and in the years to come. We ask you to also consider making a gift of ongoing significance through a planned giving opportunity:

  • A gift included in your will or living trust is a way to ensure a lasting legacy.
  • A life income gift such as a Charitable Remainder Trust can be a tax-effective way to provide you and/or someone you designate with regular payments for life.
  • Consider gifts of life insurance. Gifts of policies or proceeds you may no longer need offer excellent tax benefits. Life insurance can also be used to "replace" assets given away, thereby providing for loved ones in addition to your charitable interests.
  • A gift of retirement assets, such as pension plans or Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) may allow you to give more than you thought possible, while eliminating taxes that may otherwise largely consume these assets.

Commemorative Gifts
Commemorative gifts can be sent in any amount to celebrate a birthday, graduation or other special occasion, to express gratitude, well wishes or sympathies. When you give a memorial or commemorative gift, FIU will send the individual you wish to honor, or whomever you designate, a note announcing your name and the purpose of your gift, without mentioning the amount. You can make your gift to a specific fund or designate it as unrestricted, which allows the College to use it in areas of greatest need.
