Brief Description of the Program:
The Certificate in Educational Leadership is designed for students who have a master’s degree in a subject or field of education other than educational administration and/or leadership. The coursework constitutes the modified Florida program in educational leadership at Florida International University and addresses the competencies assessed in the Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE). The program is fully approved by the Florida Department of Education and may be used to satisfy part of the requirements for state certification in educational leadership.
Admission Requirements:
- Bachelor’s and master’s degrees (or equivalent) from accredited institutions;
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in the last 60 hours of upper-division undergraduate coursework and at least a 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale) in master’s degree work;
- A minimum combined score of 800 on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) verbal and quantitative sections;
- At least three years of successful full-time teaching experience and a professional Florida teaching certificate. Proof of certification is required.
