Brief Description of the Program:

The Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership degree program is intended to provide professional educators with an opportunity to develop competencies in areas of special needs and interests in the field of Educational Administration/Leadership. Consequently, there are few required courses and each student’s program is individually planned in consultation with a faculty advisor. The program may be used to satisfy part of the requirements of the Florida Department of Education for state certification in educational leadership.
Admission Requirements:

1. A bachelor’s and master’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited institution;
2. A minimum GPA of 3.25 in all prior graduate work and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 credit hours of undergraduate coursework;
3. A résumé describing at least the past five years of employment history and significant community, professional, or college extracurricular activities;
4. A personal statement (approximately 250 words) articulating professional career goals and aspirations;
5. Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can comment on the applicant’s leadership potential and qualifications for successfully participating in the program;
6. At least three years of successful full-time teaching experience prior to application for admission to the program.
