Florida International University is accredited by the The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). SACS is the recognized regional accrediting body in the eleven U.S. Southern states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia) and in Latin America for those institutions of higher education that award associate, baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral degrees. The Commission on Colleges is the representative body of the College Delegate Assembly and is charged with carrying out the accreditation process.

The College of Education is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

The College’s Initial Teacher Preparation Programs are all approved by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE).

The College anticipates the accreditation site visit for reaffirmation of its accreditation and program approval in the Fall 2009. The visit will be conducted by a review team from NCATE, FDOE, and the Florida Board of Governors. 

The University anticipates a review team from SACS for reaffirmation of its accreditation in the Fall 2010.

The College’s accreditation website provides documentation for the documents that will be reviewed by the accreditation site visitors. It is currently a work in progress.
