The Department of Leadership and Professional Studies, College of Education at FIU invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, non-tenure track position in Counselor Education beginning August 2016.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate in counselor education from a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited program. Strong teaching, clinical, advising, and administrative experience required. Individual should be licensed or license-eligible. Clinical experience and supervision, scholarly activity, and professional organizational participation commensurate with a clinical line is highly preferred.

Responsibilities: Teaching graduate level courses in counselor education, program leadership and management, clinical supervision, program development, professional and institutional service, and maintaining a scholarship agenda related to teaching will be required.

The counseling faculty offer the Master of Science in Counselor Education with 3 program tracks—Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CACREP accredited), School Counseling (CACREP accredited), and Rehabilitation Counseling, (Council of Rehabilitation Education [CORE] accredited).  The faculty place a special emphasis on graduating students trained to work with diverse individuals, particularly those residing in urban settings. The Department of Leadership and Professional Studies, College of Education at FIU invites applications for a nine-month, Assistant/Associate Professor full-time, tenure-track position in Educational Research Methodology beginning August, 2016.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in educational research, statistics, psychometrics, quantitative methods, or related field is required.  Successful applicants must show a record of scholarship in one of the advanced statistics (i.e., hierarchical linear modeling, structural equation modeling, or survival modeling) or measurement fields (i.e., classical measurement theory, Rasch model, or item response theory).  Applicants must have an active research program in quantitative methods or their application to a substantive area of education, and demonstrate the potential to secure external funding.  Applicants must show a strong interest in teaching from introductory to advanced statistics courses for undergraduate and graduate students and a commitment to mentoring doctoral students from quantitative research design to analysis.

Responsibilities: Teaching from introductory to advanced statistics for undergraduate and graduate students; advising doctoral students in the areas of quantitative research design, analysis, and interpretation; engaging in research activity with educational research; having a leadership role in securing external funding; collaborating with students and faculty; and involving in community services at department, college, local, state, national, and international levels.  

Faculty of educational research methods closely works with students and faculty of the College of Education, which offers programs and courses in a wide range of educational leadership, psychological studies, and curriculum and teaching. The courses of educational research methods are offered for the core undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels both on-campus and online. The Department of Teaching and Learning, College of Education at Florida International University, invites applications for a twelve-month, full-time, non-tenure-track Instructor position in Curriculum and Instruction for an anticipated date of February 2016.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in education with specialization in international and intercultural development
  • At least three years of experience working with international programs in an institution of higher education
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • At least two years of teaching at the graduate level
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cultural diverse environment

Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Curriculum and Instruction and in International/Intercultural Education.  Initiate, monitor and serve as liaison between international programs in our college and those offered in locations outside the United States of America. Contribute to the College and University through service and committee involvement.  Other responsibilities may include:

  • Administer and manage of offshore programs such as those in Jamaica and Panama, including recruiting, advising and monitoring student progress from admission through graduation; managing program budgets; and submitting required evaluation reports
  • Oversee and managing Service Agreements such as the one between FIU College of Education and Munich Business School, including advising, assisting visiting students with required Department of State documentation and program and course enrollment 
  • Research new international opportunities to assist the Dean in outreach to expand COE programs globally
  • Develop memoranda of understanding with different international universities, particularly in the Caribbean, Central and South America and China
  • Teach two courses in the Department of Teaching and Learning during the Fall and Spring semesters and one course during the Summer term
  • Other responsibilities and or/special projects as assigned by the Dean
  • Secure external grant funding

The Department of Teaching and Learning, College of Education at FIU invites applications for a nine-month, Assistant/Associate Professor full-time, tenure track position in Reading Education beginning August 2016.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Reading Education or related field and a strong foundational background of teaching and assessing reading and writing connected to 21st century literacy. 

We seek candidates with a demonstrated level of excellence in teaching at the university level in the area of Reading Education, including proficiency in course development and delivery for face-to-face and online environments. 

There is an expectation that an Assistant or Associate Professor would have a research and publication record commensurate with the rank for which s/he is applying. Experience with securing and managing external funding is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of three years teaching experience in grades PreK-12. Candidate with expertise in early literacy, adolescent literacy, assessment and /or teaching literacy to children with diverse language backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:  Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Reading Education (face-to-face; online; onsite at schools) and mentor graduate students completing research projects, theses and/or dissertations. Contribute to program and course development and continuous improvement, as well as participate in accreditation efforts. Develop and sustain a research agenda relevant to Reading Education and actively pursue external funding to support scholarly activity. Other responsibilities will include providing service to the program, College, University and profession.
