Research
Associate screening juvenile offenders to identify those
who read at two or more levels below their grade. Low-performing
children receive instruction and intervention from social
service agencies. The research stems from the widely held
belief that poor school performance and, in particular, low
literacy levels, is a major factor leading to juvenile crime.
