Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)

Education programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), formerly known as the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Specialized Accreditation

Counselor Education

The Counselor Education programs follow standards prescribed by the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the Council for Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP). The Master of Science in Counselor Education, School Counseling Track, is nationally accredited by CACREP and is approved by the Florida Department of Education, the Florida Board of Regents, and by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The Master of Science in Counselor Education, Mental Health Counseling Track, is nationally accredited by CACREP and meets the curriculum requirements for licensure as a Mental Health Counselor as outlined by the Florida Department of Medical Quality Assurance. The Master of Science in Counselor Education, Rehabilitation Counseling Track, meets all requirements as outlined by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) and prepares students for Certification in Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC).

 

School Psychology

The Educational Specialist (Ed.S) degree program in School Psychology at FIU is nationally recognized and fully approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).  Students are eligible to apply for the National Certification of School Psychologists (NCSP) designation upon completion of the program.
