Scholarships

Scholarships support students on their academic journey. We have 19 scholarships available for the 2017-2018 year.

  • Andrea Castillo Foundation Scholarship Endowment
    • Graduate of Miami-Dade County Public Schools and currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education
    • GPA 3.0 or above
    • Candidates are required to write an essay on volunteerism in the education field
  • Aunt Ruth Rosow Scholarship (Alan Grosse Gift Agreement)
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time (12 credits), undergraduate, degree-seeking student in Education
    • GPA 2.0 or above
    • U.S. citizen
  • Bellsouth Scholarship Endowment
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time (12 credits undergraduate / 9 credits graduate), degree-seeking student  in Education
    • GPA 3.25 or above
    • Demonstrated commitment to teaching through technology as described in a one-page-typed statement
  • Carole Schoepp Memorial Education Scholarship
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time (12 credits), undergraduate degree-seeking student  in Education in order to receive the scholarship
    • Cumulative GPA 3.00 or above
    • Preference given to students with an interest in serving Canadian or French populations
    • Submission of an essay of 150 words or less on your aspirations that describes your educational goals and tells how being a recipient of this scholarship will help you fulfill them
    • Must submit one (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher/professor/other professional who can attest to your academic potential, leadership qualities and/or community service
  • Christine and Robert Grosse Education Scholarship (Alan Grosse Gift Agreement)
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time (12 credits), undergraduate, degree-seeking student in Education
    • GPA 2.0 or above
    • U.S. citizen
    • Submission of an essay of 150 words or less on student's aspirations
  • COE Faculty Scholarship Endowment
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time (9 credits undergraduate / 12 credits graduate), degree-seeking student
    • Fully admitted to an Education program
    • GPA of 3.0 or above
    • Submission of a typed personal statement (double spaced, two-page maximum) describing your educational goals and how this scholarship will help you fulfill them
    • Must submit one (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher/professor/other professional who can attest to your academic potential, leadership qualities and/or community service
  • Cuban Women's Club Endowment Scholarship
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time (12 credits undergraduate / 9 credits graduate), degree-seeking student in Education
    • GPA of 3.0 or above
    • Must be a citizen of the U.S. and resident of Miami-Dade County
    • Short essay addressing interest in serving Hispanic populations
  • Education Scholarships Endowment
    • Must be fully admitted and enrolled in an Education program
    • Must be a full-time (12 credits undergraduate / 9 credits graduate) student
    • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in your major
    • Must currently reside and plan to teach in Miami-Dade, Broward or Monroe County
    • Must submit one (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher/professor/other professional who can attest to your academic potential, leadership qualities and/or community service
  • Esther Winick Memorial - Itard Foundation Endowed Scholarship
    • Currently employed teacher in Dade or Broward County (individuals on sabbatical leave will fit the definition of currently employed; similarly, individuals taking courses during the summer, even on a full-time basis, will qualify if they will be returning to teach the following Fall)
    • Enrolled in Education courses for the purpose of obtaining a certification in any specialty in Special Education, except Gifted.
  • Jan L. Tucker Scholarship Endowment
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time (9 credits), degree-seeking graduate student  in Education
    • Majoring in International/Intercultural Education or in Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis on Social Studies or International/Intercultural Education
    • GPA of 3.5 or above
    • Preference given to doctoral students
    • Submission of an essay on why global awareness or global perspectives or global education is a necessity in education in the 21st century
    • Must submit one (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher/professor/other professional who can attest to your academic potential, leadership qualities and/or community service
  • Jane O. McQuire Scholarship Endowment
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time (12 credits undergraduate / 9 credits graduate), degree-seeking student in Education
    • Special Education/Gifted major
    • GPA of 3.0 or above
    • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • Demonstrated financial need based on federal financial aid standards as determined by the University's Financial Aid Office
    • Personal statement (500-1000 words) regarding personal career goals as they relate to Special Education and the Urban environment
  • Kathryn Lehman Weiner Scholarship Endowment
    • English Education Major
    • GPA of 3.0
    • Required essay  about career goals and an explanation of why the financial assistance would be helpful in supporting the student meet his or her goals
  • Lennar Corp. Scholarship Endowment
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time (12 credits undergraduate / 9 credits graduate), degree-seeking student in Education
    • Scholastic merit with high academic achievement
  • MacDonnell Family Scholarship Endowment
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time (12 credits), undergraduate, degree-seeking student  in Education
    • Junior status
    • Admitted in Elementary Education 
    • Sincere desire to teach for more than five years
    • Demonstrated financial need based on federal financial aid standards as determined by the University’s Financial Aid Office
    • GPA of 3.0 or above
    • Scholarship may be renewed; must re-apply each year and follow procedures
    • Preference for selection shall be given to previous MacDonnell scholars in good standing
  • Mark Blum Memorial Scholar Endowment
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time (12 credits), degree-seeking undergraduate student with a declared major in Education
    • GPA 3.0 or above, including transfer students
    • Demonstrated financial need based on federal financial aid standards as determined by the University's Financial Aid Office
    • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • Scholarship may be renewed; must re-apply each year and follow procedures
    • No student can receive scholarship for more than two academic years
  • Mayor A. Fekete Education Scholarship Endowment
    • Must be enrolled as a full-time (12 credits undergraduate / 9 credits graduate), degree-seeking student  in Education
    • Education major
    • Pembroke Pines resident or attending FIU Pines Center
  • Miami-Dade County Retired Educators Association
    • A student with an interest in becoming a teacher

    • An incoming Junior or Senior

    • A commitment to stay and work in South Florida (Broward, Dade, Monroe or Palm Beach Counties) for a minimum of one (1) year upon graduation
    • A minimum 3.0 GPA
    • A two-page essay  on student's aspirations
    • Must submit one (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher/professor/other professional who can attest to your academic potential, leadership qualities and/or community service
  • Richard Glass
    • Must be fully admitted and enrolled in an Education program
    • Must be a full-time undergraduate (12 credits undergraduate / 9 credits graduate) student
    • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in your major
    • Must currently reside and plan to teach in Miami-Dade, Broward or Monroe County
    • Must submit one (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher/professor/other professional who can attest to your academic potential, leadership qualities and/or community service
  • Robert R. Bellamy Scholarship Endowment
    • Fully admitted and enrolled in an undergraduate Initial Teacher Preparation Program
    • Maintain a course load of 12 credits
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Submission of a typed personal statement (double spaced, two-page maximum) describing your educational goals and how this scholarship will help you fulfill them.
